Honeycomb core, often referred to as honeycomb panel or simply honeycomb, is a structural material that consists of a core made from hexagonal cells resembling a beehive honeycomb. This core is typically constructed from lightweight and rigid materials, such as aluminum, Nomex (a lightweight aramid paper), or various types of thermoplastic materials. The honeycomb core is sandwiched between two outer layers, often made of composite materials, to form a composite panel.
